The response to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program has been simply amazing! The old holiday saying that “it is better to give, than to receive” prevails at the sight of all the wish-gifts and needs that will go to all the children this year.
We are so proud of our Monroe Place residents! According to D. Simms, “I have been in the business over 12 years and I have never seen a response like I have seen from our residents, vendors and employees.”
Some of the larger donations this year include: roller skates, Barbie dolls, school uniforms, bedding and toys. It’s certainly beginning to look and feel like the holiday season around here.
If you have not had a chance to sponsor an Angel, and would like to do so, please stop by and grab a little Angel’s wish list from the tree. The pickup and collection date has been extended to December 2nd, so hurry on down to the leasing lobby and make a child’s wish come true.
You may continue to give all year-long, but we thank all of you for all that you have given of yourselves this holiday season!
Happy Holidays!

There is certainly nothing like being in the comfort of your own home. Especially when it comes to your bedroom. And one of the main purposes of your bedroom is ultimately to support you in de-stressing and recharging you to be ready to deal with life. It should also serve you by helping you relax and sleep well. If you aren’t sleeping well, take a good look around your room. What could you do to spice up your space a bit?
Did you know?
If your bedroom is full of clutter, your mind will be cluttered too. And if your mind is cluttered, it’s impossible to relax and sleep.

Here at Monroe Place we love to decorate our apartment homes! Just the other day I was thinking that it’s time I rearrange my living space. This especially came to mind after I visited a neighbor with a similar apartment to mine and loved the layout she gave to her living room.
Did you know that decorating doesn’t have to drain your pockets? As a matter of fact, you don’t even need to spend a dime.
Here are some decorating solutions to give your home a whole new makeover:
Curtain Call
Fake a high ceiling look with strategically placed window treatments. Make a room seem taller by installing the curtain rod above the window frame. Curtains should graze the bottom of the window sill or the floor. See the example in the image included in this post.
Pile On the Pillows
Nothing is cozier than a pile of pillows. Gather pillows from around the room or house and arrange them on one sofa to add comfort and color. Choose pillows that have different patterns in complementary colors for a perfectly mismatched look.
Mirror, Mirror
Skip the drama of a hammer and nails and prop framed mirrors against a wall. A large mirror serves many functions in a room. With a beautiful frame it becomes impactful art. When angled against the wall, it tricks the mind into thinking the ceiling line is even higher than it is. When it reflects light, it brightens the space and provides the illusion of an extra window. It just so happens I’ve done this tip long before I ever wrote this!
